Happy Anniversary to me!

Friday makes Nic and Me 17 years together. seems like a very long time to me, like I can't possibly be that old. and yet, I am and we are and all of that. So after assessing everything, we have had many more good times than bad, and many more happy than sad and all that jazz. so it is a happy anniversary. We have been tolerating each other a great long while. Half of my life. We have 2 beautiful kids and many memories of time spent together. So happy anniversary Nicolas. Cheers!

Happy New Year 2009!
I don't know about you, but I hated 2008. it just sucked and kept on sucking. We are in sunny beautiful Mexico. I will be attaching pics to this post shortly (mom) stay tuned.

but I guess it is true. I have been a mom for 4 years. Dominic is a four year old little boy. here are some blurry pictures of his party. and some from tonight at starbucks. for posterity.

oh and this is a pic from my birthday. of my IL and G. only notable cause the very cute dress G is wearing is one my mom made in 1976 or so for me to wear. the beat goes on.

and last. a word about bad glasses. I took this picture of us tonight, without first removing my glasses because I like to see. it would be a great picture of the 2 of us, if not for the BIG UGLY GLASSES.

I used to have nice frames. they were those really nice expensive flexon ones that are supposed to be able to take a licking, well, flexon met Genevieve and Genevieve prevailed. she broke them at the temple and they are unsalvagable and would need to be replaced. I refuse to buy another pair of glasses. I have already decided I will be getting lasik. so the only frames I have are my 'spare pair' from 29dollarglasses.com and boy howdy are they ugly. I bought them strictly for in bed and because they were STURDY. but until I have enough time or brain power to remember to go get the consultation and surgery done they are it for me.

so let that be a lesson to you all, or something.

We like Starbucks, I don't think I need to tell anyone this fact. it is where we go when we need to get out of dodge. I also probably don't need to tell you my kids are pretty cute and tend to be popular with the young ladies. The other day they met some young ladies who were very sweet and cute and I received permission to make them famous by featuring them on Dominic and Genevieve's blog.

Dominic's adventures in photography

Dominic is a real excellent photographer. he has a natural eye for it. here is an example of his work from a recent trip to the post office for a passport for Genevieve.

It is amazing to me that I have never had to worry about him breaking the camera, he is and always has been such a careful kid. I am just now learning about the destructive nature of babies from G, who at this very moment is attempting to destroy a backyardigans book. probably trying to free them from the pages so she can eat them.

still haven't moved or found the perfect neighborhood/house. I am even more convinced that it will happen and it will be great.**nervous laughter**

kids are thriving and all that good stuff. I would post pics, but my computer is on the fritz and my technician husband is very very very busy. I vaguely recall he is about 5'8" and slim.

the summer has officiallly started in with the heat and the crowds and the hey hey hey stop pushing lady.

what the hell happened to May? I guess nothing too exciting, though, now I can't remember. so lets just skip it.

Genevieve turned 1, which just sounds crazy to me. she is walking and babbles all kinds of baby words, which is very adorable.

we are doing all sorts of pre-summer things lately which is fun. all the stuff of summer without all the heat. I am not looking forward to the heat. next week we might set up the kiddie pool. just cause.

We had a lovely little soiree for G at a fancy restaurant with a princess cake. she won't remember a thing, but the rest of us loved it. pics soon I promise.

Arrow Walking.

We were all driving down the 405 in search of fun and excitement, I heard Dominic exclaim "arrow walking" I asked him where and he said 'behind us" so I figured it was a logo on a billboard or something. the next day on the same stretch or 405 he said it again, and then again, I asked where he saw it and again he said it was behind us, so I asked for him to show me sometime what an arrow walking was, turns out this is an arrow walking:

should be the title for my life lately. the coffee bar/mama cafe, to be continued. the house, to be continued (grumble grumble, bitch, moan) everything is on hold. our loan is waiting for the house to come up, I wait for us to have a break and find the one that has to be out there waiting for us to find it. We are looking seriously at long beach, it is a bit more driving for Nic, but the neighborhoods and the prices ROCK! I just hope I don't allow myself to get too discouraged about this whole process, I get my hopes waaay up, and then I get the big wet blanket thrown on me. it gets old after a while. Too bad I am always the perpetual optimist, lady sunshine about everything.

the house.

we might be moving! we have been in Hawthorne, waiting patiently, forever. We might be going a bit farther south and buying a duplex in Torrance. The property isn't huge, but the house sizes are right and the area is really great (Old Torrance) I will be about a mile away from a trader joes and a whole foods. which was a requirement for moving anyway. no Starbucks across the street :( but I will find a new hangout for us I suppose.

Things I am excited about: A/C!! a yard(ish) for the kids to play in, Decorating for keeps, getting to know people with a sense of permanence. Walking and living in a real neighborhood.

Not so excited about: actually moving again (though this time at least it will be a while before doing it EVER again) booting out the tenants that are currently living in the front house (grandmas house) they are on lease til Sept. I feel bad about making their lives a pain.

so wish us luck that our time has come for this and that all the ducks line up.

the usual, not much. I made some changes to the way I spend my time and how much OCD I allow creep its way in. I wish I could say it was making a difference in how much I got done around the house or how organized and tidy I become. but, alas, I am still a slob, and a mess.

the kids are doing really great, Dominic is getting much more outgoing and I think is almost ready for preschool, we are pretty well day trained. he figured it out all on his own one day. And Genevieve is a joy and a wonder. she is standing up from the floor on her own, and makes little adorable songs clapping and singing and cooing practically all day long. one tooth then another sprang forth almost overnight. I still can't believe she is 9 months old.
